well, the spring rains are here and with them comes some good fishing. the river is muddy and moving swiftly at my favorite spot, a sandbar near an old bridge, where bottom feeding fish congregate to feed after a good spring rain. this morning i caught 2 channel cats, 2 drum, 2 bullheads, and a carp. missed a few other bites, too. got tired of being cold and wet after about an hour and went home. i hope this rain stops leter this afternoon and i can catch a few more. i bet there are alot of places where a good spring rain triggers such a pattern. sandbars and bends in a creek or river will usually hold feeding fish after a rain. i use river worms that come up from the rain, but store crawlers will catch too.

went back for an hour and a half before dark and it paid off with a nice catch of cats and rough fish. i didnt weigh this bruiser but im guessin he's about 15 lbs. probably the biggest channel cat i ever caught on rod and reel. the kids caught the rest including some whopper channel cats. all together we had 4 nice channels a drum and a carp.
