in my book fresh shad with a cup of salt makes a better fish oil more so when it comes to lure ingredents.i will see if i can get some shad and make some and post a picture of the clear oil. no rank odor just a clear sweet odor.

here is a idea from a friend thanks keeper172 I am posting this here but after it has run it coarse the mods can move it to the right spot on the forum. This is my first attempt at this so bear with me. Last month I started rotting down 3 quart sized jars of meat. I noticed if I didn't release the built up gases regularly I would get sprayed with some of the juices from the rotting meat (yeah nasty I know lol). Well I decided to do something about having to release the gases manually and having to do it myself at all. So here is what I decided to do. First I collected the items needed. 1 large glass jar with a metal lid. 1 2 liter soda bottle. 3 feet of 3/8 inch clear hose. .25 a foot at lowes. 1 tube of silicone aquarium sealant (3.98 at lowes). A drill and a 1/2 inch drill bit. Next drill a hole in the center of the lid. Be sure the hole is good and smooth and watch your fingers this metal is sharp. Next push the hose through the hole about 1 inch. Now take the silicone and seal the hose on the inside and outside of the lid. You let this dry for a day. You want a air tight seal here so don't skimp on the silicone. Now after it has dried this is the finished product. Now put your meat in the jar and put the lid on. Then take some duct tape and put around the lid. This will help prevent flies from laying eggs around the lid of the jar. Now fill the 2 liter soda bottle 3/4 full of water and run the hose down into the water as far as you can. What this does is allow gases to escape through the hose and into the water but prevents anything from getting into your meat. Never let the water level get low enough to expose the open end of the hose. There you go if I left anything off just post it. Also once I get my meat moved to the new jar ill snap a pic to post. Thanks Michael
