not really. the fat could be melted down and used as a filler in baits. for a example you could melt the fat down and mix it with say fish but the question is how tacky would it be as i have never tried using possum . think on these terms last season i caught a possum and a cat got it . clear by the tracks that was left.but would they make a good bait just can't say never tried them

i bet you could use their glands to make some killer possum gland lure that would have the grinners fightin to get in your trap.

maybe you are right josh because this season dee caught 27 cats (not bad having only 12 traps out )and what we have noticed is this every set produced a possum the night before.she never changed the trap so may be you are on to some thing about the low life possums.
she has been catching possums all week and the next night the cats was caught.once the possum was caught the traps has been plugged with cats.goe figure.

I wonder if it is just the fact that the set is torn up like something was messing around? Or the fact that the whole trap area smelled like opposum?

it's very could be cause of the site appeal.but you know the whole set reaks of possun odor. i have caught possums in the past that was eaten.by what don't know.i think it's time for me to place out a trail cam and use a bunch of possums for bait stations.just to kill my coursity.
next question i know that a lot of trappers move thier sets and change thier traps when they connect with a posum .i wounder why because i don't and i still connect on canines and cats.

most everything that i catch is in a possum remake. i would say it is some coincidence(of course you are going to catch possum before target at most sets, cause there are more of them), and some appeal that the possum contributes. i always say any remake is a good set, whether it was a possum or a target. foxpro, you should harvest some possum glands and make up some lure with em and give it a try. could be some good stuff.
