???Is it legal to use freshwater clams for bait?
I hope so. I found some big ones in the shallows last week, big as my hand. "Shucked" them, and caught a small Channel Cat on a "dock-line" overnight. I froze the rest for some Big-Time catfishing soon. I've used them in the past for trapline bait....works good.

yes bwana you sure can use them as bait under CSR 10-6.610 mussels and clams in the new little orange book.
BUT THERE IS DAILY LIMITS (5) / 2 SHELLED HALVES SHALL BE CONSIDERED 1 WHOLE CLAM/MUSSEL....IT THEN STATES THAT ASIATIC CLAMS MAY BE TAKEN IN ANY NUMBER
THE SEASON IS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR IT THEN STATES THAT THERE IS SOME ENDANGERED SPECIES THAT MAY NOT BE TAKEN PERIOD!
SO MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO CHECK IT OUT FOR YOUR SELF AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH WHAT YOU CAN LEGALLY HARVEST... HOPE THIS HELPS JOSH
